I am a biologist standing in opposition to the use of GM Alfalfa and most GMO foods in general. Because of alfalfa's growth patterns and genetic similarity to natural grasses, the negative consequences of releasing it are particularly profound. Now that GM Alfalfa has been approved for use in the US, if companies preserve the genetic integrity of their product at this critical juncture, they will have far less work to do removing it from their supply chain in the future. The more the scientific community discovers and the public learns about GM crops, the more we understand the deleterious consequences and turn away.
